Tours of Solar and Sustainable Buildings
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has issued a proclamation designating October as Solar and Renewable Energy Month, recognizing the American Solar Energy Society’s annual National Solar Tour of solar installations and energy sustainable buildings. As part of the National Tour, events in Arizona include a lecture and local tours on different weekends in different parts of the state. The tours provide an opportunity for the public to see solar and green building examples in person.

The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour is the world's largest grassroots solar event. This event offers you the opportunity to tour innovative green homes and buildings to see how you can use solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change. Last year's tour drew more than 90,000 people in 38 states to 578 registered Solar Tours. Nationally, there were over 9,000 sites people could visit to learn about renewable energy and building sustainably. A majority of the tours featured residential properties, with a third of the tours featuring commercial and municipal buildings as well.
Now in its 18th year, this event is coordinated nationally by the nonprofit ASES in collaboration with dozens of outstanding partner organizations. October 5 has been chosen this year as National Solar Tour Day with tour locations througout the United States.
