May lecture of the Living With the Sun - Az. Style series
Solar and sustainability is more than those pieces of equipment on the roof. The site, landscaping, and resource smart usage are a critical part of the equation in living in a desert condition. Water is a critical and important element when it comes to living sustainably in the arid Valley of the Sun.
Learn about water harvesting from a local permaculture practitioner - Don Titmus.
- Learn about various water resources
- water, grey water and rainwater;
- the best and the worst for your plants and your life.
- Learn how to connect all these sources for best results.
- Learn about various uses and strategies - how to marry grey-water and rainwater harvesting earthworks.
- Learn about the connection of these with food production, shading, fiber, fuel, habitat enhancement, and sanctuary - the creation of a personal oasis.
- Learn various techniques of water catchment from buckets to rain barrels to cisterns and when to use them; when to store water and when not to.
Many of your questions will be answered during the presentation and in the question and answer session.
SPEAKER Don Titmus, a horticulturalist for 37 years and a Valley Permaculturalist for 8 years, brings his experience and recognized expertise to this talk.
